Project: Linux and Free Software on Desktops

If anyone is looking for an opportunity to push for advocacy of Linux, Free & Open Source Software on desktops and refurbished computers, I have several opportunities for us to deploy Linux on refurbished desktops for low-income families. The beneficiaries of the refurbished computers are supported by non-profit organizations whom will not pay for software licenses and does not have the budget to provide commercial technical support. What is lacking now is training and technical support for the beneficiaries after they received the computers. If you would like to volunteer your time to see more of Linux and Free Software on desktops, this is your chance!

Project: The OpenCD for Community Centres

I am also advocating Open Source Software by distributing TheOpenCD project to all members of community centres in Singapore (there are a total of 99 community centres in the whole island) to eliminate software piracy while showing the end-users that FREE software can be as good as commercial software, if not better. This project will require volunteers to do demos and organize "Installation Festivals" once a month at the various community centres. We could tap on the CCs computer rooms, network and Internet access and various CC committees for financial support if required.

If you are interested to support this two above-mentioned projects, please let me know and we can form a committed project team to do this.

For now, I am seeking youths between 15 to 35 years old as an IT Secretary to support this project in my CC at Ace the Place Community Centre in Admiralty (Woodlands Drive 16). If you are committed, driven and want to make a difference in the community, society and see FOSS deployed everywhere, this is an opportunity for you!
